The latter part of June I got a slightly used one. I worked up a jacketed load for starters just to see what kind of accuracy it will produce. I satisfied myself that it was indeed an accurate rifle.
Then I started on my cast loads and found it wanted to shoot them also. In 3 different range sessions I had a problem of the hammer falling to half cock when I pressed the trigger and didn't find any consistency to this problem. It just happened when it wanted to. I started to think on it and decided that maybe the bolt wasn't locking properly because I've always loaded cast long enough to mash into the throat. I tend to get better accuracy this way. Yesterday I loaded some RCBS 35-200 FN .032" shorter. Out of 23 rounds, 22 fired perfectly, the 23rd was long and I felt resistance when I closed the lever. Hammer fell to the half cock position. So the problem has been overcome.
Anyone who has a problem with the BLR failing to fire may want to try this.

My 358 BLR needs a short OAL. 2.70" is maximum for reliable feeding. 2.770" is reloading manual OAL. This shorter AOL increases peak pressure about 4600 psi and muzzle velocity about 140 fps according to QuickLoad.

My OAL was 2.572" and now for reliability is 2.540".
