Anybody have a clue as to what this is? Some type of reproduction dueling pistol of course, but any idea what make?
I beat a lead ball.into it and it measured. 4385". It is smooth bore. I have had this thing for most of my life. I think my dad gave it to me when I was little. It has never been fired to the best of my knowledge. It was badly rusted and the brass was tarnished. I cleaned it up with evaporust (neat stuff) and started polishing the brass. I broke the trigger taking it apart, but it looks like something I can make fairly easily.
I will post a pic of the only markings/numbers on it as well.

.

It's a replica of a New Orleans Ace .44 gambler's hideout gun (google).

So it is, thanks fellas.
Does any one know the specs on it? Like what caps does it use, just for reference all.my muzzle stuffers are flint. I have some goex 3f, what charge would it use? I assume it just uses patched rb.

.44 caliber, could be had with either a smoothbore or rifled barrel. Have 1 of each. Barrel unscrews for loading or cleaning.

Assuredly NOT any kind of dueling pistol.

Ok, so not a dueling pistol, but more of a saturday night special type of thing. Interesting, now I need to shoot it. I cant imagine it having more of an effective range of 25 yards and that's probably pushing it.

What do I need for this thing? .433 round ball, and couldn't be more than 30gr of 3f, would need a fairly thin patch.

.

A safe load would be .433 ball with an .015" patch and 15 - 20 grains FFFg.

I just sold one of those. It was not finished and must have been kit. I have seen them that were sold by Outers or Hoppes can’t remember which. I think there was more than one model. They were boot pistols, screw barrels.
