I'm looking at loading 338 Lapua with cast and jacketed and was wondering due to different pressure loads if it's best to keep the brass separate
for future loads.

I would just because you should get longer case life with the cast loads. I toss a batch of brass once i reach a certain failure rate. I don't want to be tossing a whole bunch of good brass just because it's mixed

With 2 different loads for 2 different purposes, absolutely separate your brass. File a notch on the rim of one batch, note its' intended purpose (notch means cast), and go from there.

I keep a record of each loading a batch of rifle brass receives. I switch back and forth from jacketed to cast, with mostly cast. With 30-30, I load to the same level with either so it doesn't make much difference on brass life.

I currently load cast for 30-06, 30-30, 223 numerous pistol cartridges and don't separate. I figured with the high end 338 loads I would want to separate. Thanks

I'd keep the brass separate, I'd be concerned about cast loads in a case the has that much capacity, and you'll prolly only fill 10% of it.

I don't with my .308 or .30-06. But, they are both loaded over 50% of volume with cast bullets. And I mainly shoot cast. Probably 1 jacketed load for every 5 cast loads.

I do have some plinking cases that I keep separate cause I have drilled out the flash holes on them. They usually get 8gn of Blue Dot so a lot of empty space in there. They are all Hornady brand cases as well.

I keep rifle cases separate. One of the great things about cast boolits in rifles is that most loads are pretty mild, pressure wise. Once I feel that my jacketed bullet cases are exhausted (for lack of a better term), I will relegate them to use with cast and get a lot more loadings out of them that way. A lot really depends on the particular caliber, how many time the cases have been fired, how many times trimmed etc. Also primer pocket condition, and that is usually when I end up scrapping the brass. Look like cast boolit data is pretty limited in the 338 Lapua, I wish you good luck!

Segregate it. I file a notch on brass I use BP in to know the difference from what I’m shooting smokeless in.

For something like 338 Lapua where the brass is extremely expensive and performance expectations are high, I would separate them.

I seldom shoot jacketed.
What little I do shoot of them, is all in common calibres that have an abundance of easy to scrounge cases- .357, .45ACP, .30-06, .308.
For them, I use known 'once fired' cases. After that, I toss them in the bucket for reloading with cast.
