Anyone using the 311440 for deer in any 30 caliber rifle?

Except old writing of Paco's there seems to be no mention of using this boolit.
Certainly has plenty of meplat . . . maybe too much!

I have not used it as we in our house tend to go with heavy for caliber. 180 gr+ FN range is caliber 30 standard.
But as it sees to have worked well 15 years ago it still should.
For corn crunchers I would keep it on the soft side and slam it through the breathers and pumper.

I shot a couple of whitetail with it almost 20 years ago. I tend to shoot heavier for target. It fed OK in my 94 30-30 but required positive attention. I pushed these faster than I should maybe 2350 out of the 308 and had one blow up fast on bone. These were purchased as I didn't yet own a mold that style and I don't know the alloy. The pass through traveled 30 yards or less, the blow up bullet had enough spinal stress that he went down right there.

I used that bullet as a plinking round in two bolt action 30-30's and a couple of 308 Win caliber rifles for years.
Loaded over 10 gr Unq I would get 1 MOA at 100 yds in all four rifles.
At that range I would not have any worries of shooting a deer with it, have shot deer with less ( 225, 22-250, 357 ) when I was younger

I have the mold but have never cast with it. 45 Colt, 38-55 and 357 have taken my time.

No white tails yet, but it's sure fire on woodchucks. I could almost pass a pencil through & through without touching any sides - well, almost.
