Does anyone know anything about AR 2205 (AUS powder) and a comparison with IMR 4227. I want to use the 2205 in the 38WCF and 44WCF in place of the 4227. My plan is the use the 2205 to replicate the H.V. loads of yesteryear.

Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

http://www.adi-powders.com.au/powder-equivalents/

The ADI chart of powder equivilants shoe 2205 and 4227 to have the same burning rate.

I read a couple of times that it is the same powder --ADI makes, supplies it and then its packed out as 4227. Dont have a reference handy for that but seen it more than once.

On the ADI website they make a range of powders that Hogdon buys and sells under the Hogdon brand in the US AR2205 is the same as H4227 ----IMR is maybe a tiny bit different - but is it even available still?

Thanks guys, ADI only mentions approximate equivalent values within about 5%. of actual burning rates. To be totally convinced I would like to see both powders used in the same cartridge with the same charges and bullet weights.

I load my 22 Hornet with 4227 after I scored 4 brand new unopened tins from a deceased estate, same load as 2205.

Bob --my reply above from the ADI website AR2205 IS H4227..........so the only possible difference you have to contend with is IMR4227 versus H4227????

correction - seems that info came from Hogdon website not ADI ---my bad
