I made new brass for my 30BR Long and tested some this past weekend.

Here are the targets. 10 shots were XCB bullets in Lyman #2 alloy and 5 shots were Lyman 31141 bullets in COWW plus 1% tin. All were loaded with IMR 3031. Lube was NRA formula 50/50. They were not chronographed. Next time out I will be testing 31141 in linotype and pushed a little faster with BLC2. The 31141's were keyholing a little. I might need to get my own XCB mold.

It was a little windy and I did not have wind flags so that added to the horizontal stringing. The distance to the target was 100 yards.

Sure, I will dig them up. I posted them here before. I don't know how to reuse pictures I posted already.

On the left is the 6.5 x 47 parent case, next to it is the formed and neck expanded case (see the donut from the shoulder of the parent case), next is the first pass of neck turning, it has some minor lack of uniformity, and the last is a case that was neck turned a second time. I think the second pass at neck turning is over kill and I am not doing it for this lot of cases.

Shot 3 more groups today. I ran out of gas checks and the ones I ordered were lost in the mail and am waiting for replacements to arrive. That said, I only had two rounds for sighters and fowlers. I don't know if it was the harder bullets or the higher velocity with BLC2 powder but they seem to be improving no keyholing.

Now to just lose the fliers.
