Can you get those at Harbor Freight outlet stores? That would make a great gift for Buckshot.

The square tip on the threaded end of the bolt locks into a notch in the rear of the fore stock.

And you need a large screw driver, square shanked with adjustable spanner for extra leverage.

No, it was right handed, but I was sure scared it was a lefty!! But jusy DARN TIGHT!

I can hear it now ,at the factory 60+ years ago...."The first one of you chaps that leave a buttstock screw loose gets shipped straight to the front lines!!" LOL ....Buck

Get your hand on a hand impact driver, like KD Tools marketed. You hammer the end of the tool, and the screw is loose. No kidding.

That's strange, the couple I've worked on were LH. Both were brought in because the owners couldn't remove the screw. Were they made both ways, or are there different models?

Morgan: I wonder if savage made right and british made left.
I made a screw driver for butt screws.piece of cold rolled welded to screw driver shank and drilled a hole on end and put a rod thru for handle :coffee: [smilie=1:

one of the old lugwrenches with the narrow end for prying off hubcaps makes a dandy buttstock screw removal tool.

Surely someone must have the answer. Is there an Enfield web site?

Yep, that's about it "60 + years ago..........that's how it got done. I used a 3/8" hexdrive bit 3/8" drive socket w/6" extension & wratchet to get mine off.......RIGHT-HAND THD.

Hey Morgan,

I've tinkered with perhaps 25-30 No4's, No5's, and No1's in the last 50+ years and have NEVER seen one with a left hand thread. Looked in Reynolds and nothing there. I'll ask a Canadian buddy, maybe he would know. Will let you know what I find.

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
