Over the weekend the Wife & I picked up the title handgun, a police trade-in with night sights & 3 magazines hard to find any holster wear on it and no dings of any sort.

By some stroke of luck the first time Linda picked it up she commented how nice it felt in her hand.

Haven't fired it yet, maybe we''ll get out with it tomorrow. She has a shoulder replacement so is a bit concerned about what the recoil may be

I have at least 1,000 rds of .40 loaded from several years ago, so I don't have to get tooled up for loading immediately.

1.0 or 2.0?

Have both.

I was under the impression that those version numbers were only applied to the M&P "Shield" models. Prior to the Shields there were M&P9 and M&P40. Ours is the M&P40.

The designation applies across the line. Since yours is a police turn in, I would guess that tours is a 1.0. Not really much difference, except for the grip texture and a supposedly better trigger in the 2.0, which may or may not be the case. Congrats on a fine pistol, one of the best out there, IMO.

Bought a few of those police trade ins in 40 and a pair in 45 first gen. and recoil gun works had the police trade in magazines cheap to boot stocked up while price was good , pair of the pistols were gifts along with some magazines , kept a few for myself could not beat the price 250 on the 40 calibers while people fought bidding wars on one by posting opening bid and on same page other used ones going higher , good pistols enjoy mine and they do fit well .

the quickest way to tell a 1.0 vs 2.0 is the beavertail on the back/top of the grip is much more on the 1.0

I love the M&P series, I have the full size, compact and Shield all in .40 S&W. For me the full size is one of the lightest recoiling .40 that I’ve shot.

Derek, Thank you for the pics, ours is the 1.0 without the thumb safety.

They do feel better in at least my hands then a glock does.

The 2.0s also have frame stiffening insert in the dust cover, a metal VIS, a rollover relief on the ejection port, pretty much worthless cosmetic forward serrations and as mentioned no ducktail. Also have an anti slide drop feature on the slide release/stop and the 40 grit sandpaper treatment.

The 1.0s were considered durable because they were designed from the start to be 40s. The 2.0 with the frame stiffening and metal VIS washer should be even more so.

An Apex trigger will transform that gun into something special.

Hard to go with one of them!

That Alex trigger is great too if you want to upgrade it.

I've got one and it's a keeper for sure. Very happy with it and I highly recommend them

cant see the sense in a 200 dollar trigger in a 400 dollar gun. A good crisp 3lb trigger isnt needed in a self defense gun. If i want a good trigger ill holster a 1911. Might even put 30 bucks into improving a glock trigger but thats about it. Ive shot m&ps with an apex upgrade and its still far from a good 1911 trigger. M&Ps were never designed to be target guns. But to each his own.

My first M&P was a full size 1.0 .40S&W. It made me a convert to the interchangeable palm swell design. S&W made big believers out of the competition too.

I like 'em!

I have 2 and cut the grip down on one of them to use compact magazines. Been carrying that one for about a year now.
