I have had these for years. Were they effective back in the day?

I can't get the pictures to load. Are they the T/C Hotshot rounds?

In a Contender with the choke installed, yes by most accounts.

Yes, TC Hot Shot Capsules. 50 in the box. Has a 1973 date written on the price tag. 7 1/2 shot size.
I’m not sure what’s up with the photo link. It works for me.

They were supposed to be very accurate. I have read accounts of them being used to shoot skeet with. Not sure if it was the 357 or the 44 mag.

The problem is probably with me. Windows 7 and dial up connection.

Yes, 44 hotshot gives you the equivalent of a .410 shotshell. You have to use the TC choke though. This was back when a 45 Colt/410 barrel would have been considered a short barrelled shotgun under federal law. TC invented the hotshot system as a work around. When BATF changed the law, it was replaced by the 45 Colt/410. There's your worthless trivia for the day.

I have one of those barrels, with a few rounds of the hotshot cartridges left. Mine came in boxes of 20. They weren't all that cheap either. I would have preferred the .410 instead. At least I can reload them. I shot clay birds with mine, out of a hand trap though. I did surprising well. Close to 50%.

I had some loaded rounds but the plastic holding the shot had deteriorated and the shot was leaking out. It depends on what you would consider effective. If you were going to shoot a snake or rat at 10 yards, then yes. If you were planning on shooting skeet at regulation distances, dream on.

Yes they are TC 44 Hot Shot capsules.
They are only effective in a TC 44 Hot Shot barrel.
You need a special Hot Shot seating die.
They are only marginally good as a .410.
I have the barrel and loading dies.
Shooting trap or flying game is a real challenge.
