I bought this vintage hollowware salad fork/spoon set on fleabay & a couple of FFFg flintlock priming valves from TOTW

I then cut the wooden fork/spoon off from their hollow handles.

I made a small wooden plug to fit inside the open end of the handle(s), drilled it for the priming valve, then epoxied it in place.

And, VIOLA ! ! - A handy/compact flintlock pan priming tool !

Pretty fancy.

They'll look good in one of those velvet lined wooden boxes with a pair of dueling pistols.

Make rings from the handles, a fishing spoon from the spoon head, & a hole spacer for leather working from the fork head. No waste!

What's the base metal that those handles are made from?
From what I've found some are plated while others are sterling silver. --->>> https://www.precious-metal-refining.info/what-is-silver-holloware/

Thanks for the kind sentiments, folks !

The holloware handles are marked "sterling" in a band around the open end.

Well great... Now my holloware fork and spoon collecting will become more difficult now that you pesky black powder folks will start a demand for them.

Those are really sharp looking Pete. Are you going to find a sterling gravy boat to make a powder flask for the main charge next?

That was a great idea. Now the problem is you need a flintlock with sterling silver furniture.

I am green with envy!

I would also like to know how do you fill it when you epoxy the plunger head into the wood plug? seems that if the plunger has to be unscrewed it would take a very long time to fill it through that pencil sized hole? just courious. thanks.

I don't know how he mounted his spout into the plug he put in, but on the commercial primer I have the spout unscrews. The primer may hold 50 to 60 grains of 4f, maybe more. When using it you are only putting 1 or 2 grains of powder (if that) in the pan per shot. So, you won't be refilling that often.

Edit: I just reread the original post and I do agree if they are permanently epoxied in place, they would be almost impossible to refill.

I made a pan primer out of a Deer Antler section.
I did not have the brass threaded adapter to glue into the end of the antler to screw in the primer tip so it is removable.
So, I just put a release agent on the primer tip threads.
Then epoxied it into the antler with JB Weld.
When dried , the brass tip was able to unthread and be removed for refilling the primer tube.
