Apologies as I cant seem to find a right place to place this.

I have a large gun cabinet, around 60 inches high, 18 inches deep and 24 inches wide. It weighs around 100KG without rifles.
I am looking to store it upstairs, but worried about the weight. I can secure it to a solid wall at the edge of the house, but the wall is not straight. So when I place plywood underneath it wont sit on it as the case is angled up off the floor.
There are floorboards and two almost three floor joists that it will sit on
Should priority be made to weight on the wall, or weight on the floor , or am I worrying too much ?

Thanks in advance

100 kg translated into 'merican is ~220 lbs.

I haven't seen too many 220 pounder guys take a fast trip to the basement.

Even with 20 guns @ 10 lbs. each I doubt if you'll have much trouble.

But don't call me if you hear a loud crash[smilie=1:

Assuming the floor joists are sound, I think you'd be o.k. Like 15meter said, 220 lb. cabinet + 20 guns x 10 lbs. ea. = 440 lb. Especially, if you set it on a sheet of plywood the weight will distribute to a wider area. But you could test it by having two big guys stand on the designated spot for a few minutes. :D

Thanks guys many thanks.
it is fixed to the wall with wall bolts, so I would hope that takes some weight off of the floor ?
If I fully tighten it lifts off of the floor completely, so then worried about the wall taking the weight!
Its an ex British army case and well built

If you notice any sag you may be able to put a post under it.

Put a ledger board on the wall behind it to take up the slack - bolt that to the wall with 1/4" lag bolts, or your equivalent, and bolt the safe to the ledger board.

Build a wedge frame and tap it in underneath when you have your bolts fully secured to the wall. The wedge frame will assist with distributing the weight at the bottom and take some of the pressure off the wall.

A cabinet of that weight weighs less than a refrigerator. A lot of refrigerators get put on the second or third or more floors of a lot of buildings without any problems. Same with water beds.
I doubt you will ever have to worry about the weight.
Bolts to the wall won't really help support the weight. Bolts to the wall may help prevent the cabinet from being removed from the house to get your firearms. I would fill in the gap between the cabinet and wall so it sets flat on the floor with a spacer the bolts run through.
