Not the current plant, the old one in Utica, NY. Sorry if posted in wrong place - just thought somebody might care. For pic's search for "CharlesTown Mall". I tried to post pic's but could not figure it out. Maybe some one else can do it. CharlesTown was the last major concern to use the building. It was a factory outlet mall back in the '80's. Been basically idle for 15 -20 years. Several fires during that time. Owners owed about $100k in back taxes. Currently housed some vintage cars and such. If you own a Savage 99, 95 etc that was "Made in Utica, NY" it was made in this building. My father worked there for a bit during the war (NAZI WAR) assembling 50 cal machine guns. I currently work about 1 block away. Got out of work at half day for the smoke and stink drifting in. Water mains fouled, still have to drink bottled water. Well, that's it. just thought it's an interesting note in the passage of time.

Just awhile back I saw some photos of the Savage factory in Utica, WW II vintage. It was big. Glad that it wasn't the current Savage plant!

Me to, I was at first thinking it was the plant it self, that is still make the guns. Too bad the old building went.

Weren't the Savage M1A1 Thompson SMGs manufactured there back during the war?

I still see Savage-made M2 .50 machine guns from time to time. They've mostly been rebuilt into M2A1s by now, but they're still soldiering on.
