I made a deal with a fellow form member and part of it was 4 lbs of 50/50 solder. I did not need it as I have several pounds of pewter, but it was what he had and I really did not use the items I let go. it worked out for both of us.

I am wondering if I throw this solder up for sale or trade what is a good going rate for 50/50 ?

Thanks . I typically dont check ebay especially in times like now, as it seems everyone wants top dollar + for everything they have.

If you're talking about the value to a caster, I'd personally base a reasonable purchase price on the going rate for the component metals.

Lead is about $1 a pound in the S&S, and ~92% tin in the form of pewter is $8-9 a pound (prices that are also in the ballpark of the spot metal market prices). One pound of 50/50 has a half pound of each metal, making a fair price for me around $5 a pound.

I'd guess folks needing the solder as solder might be willing to pay more on eBay, seeing as their main alternative is to pay new product prices at substantially over spot metal cost.

$3-5 is a good range. As long as it is not acid core!
