At some point I ended up with a pound of H335 powder which I just found hiding in my powder box. I only have a Hornady reloading manual, and I see numerous j-word loads using H335. These will be used in a 1:7 or 1:9 5.56nato barrel, has anyone used H335 with their AR with good/acceptable results? I seem to hear more use of 4895. Appreciate your comments. Thanks.

H335 is a very common powder in .223/5.56 many people (as well as myself) run it with 55 grain FMJ bullets in the 24.5-25.0 grain range in their ar-15’s.

55gr BTHP w/ 25.0gr H335 in my 18" 1-7 twist AR carbine is a beautiful thing.

This is for 40 grain V-Max or Nosler Ballistic Tips but 27.5 grains of H335 is as close to a magic load that I have found. Never tied it in a 7 twist but in a 9 twist or slower I have yet to find a rifle that it doesn't shoot well in. That is my go too load for prairie dogs. I just opened my 9th 8 pound jug of it.

H-335 is my go to powder in the 223-5.56 cartridge. I got lucky and bought an eight pound jug last month. Gp

+1 for H335. Great speed and accuracy and what a fireball from the muzzle. In larger than .223 cartridges I use magnum primers for ball powders.

as far as I know the m193 round has been loaded as nato ammo using mc844 which is the same powder as h335
correct this if this is not correct

You are correct. WC844 is basically H335 with additional flash inhibitors.

I haven't used any H335 in .223 cases, but it is my go to powder for .35 Remington in a Marlin 336CS.

I just yesterday loaded some .30 Remington with H335 and 150 gr Speer FP bullets. I expect it to work, I've used it since 1972 in .222 to 8x57.

335 is probably the most popular 55gr/223/5.56 powder around

.....especially for progressive reloading machines

I load 55 Gr FMJ BT with 25 grains of WC844. My lot loads to H335 data.

H335 has been my mainstay "go to" powder for the .223/5.56 cartridge with 52 - 55 gr bullets for many, many years. I use 26.5 gr which duplicates 5.56 M193 pressures and ballistics. With 55 gr FMJBTs it duplicates M193 (US made). With 52 gr HPs or 55 gr BTs in 9 - 12" twist gas guns it's a load that's very difficult to beat. With 55 gr Hornady SX in 12" twist bolt guns I've killed many a critter over the years.

Among the best of the handloading writers, the late Bob Hagel mentioned in at least one of his books that H335 was his favorite .223 powder. A lot of new powders have come out since then, but I'll bet H335 still works well, at least for the lighter .223 bullets that were popular during Hagel's time.
