Have had this one for 15+ years and has always worked until now. Installed new batteries and when the 2nd one makes contact, the display comes up for a second and then disappears. Time to throw it away or does someone know something that I don't???

Did you try different batteries? I only ask because I just had a dead battery that was new, right out of the pack.

Affirmative: first battery change it did not work so tested and both new ones out of the package were dead so ordered new off Amazon. Tested second pair before install and they were good...

My helmet is a cheepie. Thought it was broken but I had just bumped one of the dials and it would not darken. That's all I got, Sorry.

Generally speaking when a board gets powered up initially then shuts down just as quickly, there is generally a fault in the board or the load.
