Morning, I got abit of shooting in yesterday with the AR Pistol in 7.62x39. I had a bunch of the 190gn Fat30 bullets lubed with Carnauba Red and sized to .311 sitting on the shelf, so I loaded some and shot them.
I thought instead of trying the rifle powders like I did last time with no luck, that I'd try 2400. I didn't do a proper ladder test, I only loaded 3 rounds each at a few powder charges just to see if anything positive might happen.
10gn 1122fps 2.8"
12gn 1286fps 1.31"
14gn 1452fps 1.95"
16gn 1590fps 5" verticle spread
17gn 1681fps 4" horizontal spread

So I switched to A1680 to see if I could go faster with a slower powder.
18gn 1484fps 1.785"
20gn 1616fps 1.94"
22gn 1771fps 10" verticle spread

So it looks like I should load more rounds with 1680 and shoot more than 3 per group, then maybe try a slower powder to see if I can get to 1700fps ish

I use 2400 in BO pistol, 10.5=1400+ for 170gr PB. Low recoil and decent accuracy @ 50. Don't now what a Fat30 bullet is. Think 4227 (or RL7)will do better, 1680 fps is less than your 2400 loads.

The Fat30 was a boolit I drew up for a group buy many years ago. It was targeted at the MilSurp rifles with the larger than .308 bores. When sized to .311 it shoots pretty good in my 30-06. We also did a fatter30.

If anyone is interested, I sent the print to Accurate and had a mold cut.
They have it listed as 31-194F

Good suggestions on the powders, I'll have to give them a try and see where the accuracy falls off.

The last 2400 load that showed good accuracy was only going 1452fps
The last A1680 load that showed good accuracy was going 1616fps. This load would lock the bolt open.

I think that a few of these group buy molds sold on eBay last year. They were Lee six bangers and the box said Fatter30.
