Has anyone been able to call into the Dillion help desk and get a callback?

Never had to get a callback. Always got right through. May be due to the current hysteria that’s going around. Dillon customer service is second to none, IMO.

They are totally swamped right now. You will get a call back. It just might be a few hours.

Anything we could help with in the meantime? or did something break and you need a replacement?

I have a primer feeding issue on my 550, and a problem on my older power throw.

I called them about a month ago and used the callback. It took maybe 10 minutes for it.

I have a primer feeding issue on my 550, and a problem on my older power throw.

Have you tried a new primer magazine tip? I have also added a 45 ACP case to the top of the primer follower rod, seems like just a little extra weight sometimes helps the primers feed better into the primer bar. While you are loading, just try holding your finger on top of the rod, just to give it a little pressure and see if that helps.

Feel free to describe the powder issue a little more.

I have an older powder measure and the Bell crank screw unthreads. Is this a washer problem or can I put some lock tight on it with no problems.
The problem with the primers is that the primer slide is not going out far enough to pickup a new primer. I will try a new tube also.
These are all original parts from buying the 550 in 86.

The problem with the primers is that the primer slide is not going out far enough to pick up a new primer.

There is a bent wire spring that pushes the slide out, Dillon part 13869, Operating Rod. Over time it weakens. Dillon will replace it if you ask. However, I've found it sufficient to flex the spring and "re-arch" it. It is surprisingly stiff, and I find clamping one end in a vice helps considerably.

You can do some Loctite to hold it. When Dillon updated the powder measure, they went to a longer bolt with a locknut on the opposite side. If you look at a current drawing of the powder measure it will show the nut. You can update the bottom part of the measure and get the newer bolt and nut and it would likely take care of that problem. Part #22273 is the housing, but depending on type of actuating system, you might need to update the bottom collar as well. Or try a longer bolt and see if you can put a locknut or jam nut to hold it, or use some Loctite. Or likely Dillon will replace the assembly.

The problem with the primers is that the primer slide is not going out far enough to pickup a new primer. I will try a new tube also.
These are all original parts from buying the 550 in 86. Tatume has good advice here. Dillon will likely replace that rod as well.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Had a similar problem with one of the primer feeders for my upgraded 450. Called Dillon and (I thought) ordered the parts I needed. Four days later, I received a complete primer feed assembly. Seems that one of the parts I needed had been redesigned and the 'old style' was no longer available so it was easier to replace the whole thing than have me send my original (from 1983 :-)) in for repair.

I would recommenced disassembling the priming mechanism for the press and thoroughly cleaning it. I do this about twice a year on mine. A lot of crud builds up in there during de-priming. Mine always runs a lot smoother after doing this. This may not be the problem in your case, but it sure won't hurt.

So, I called Dillion on the 480-223-4570 the Front desk and he said the callback is not working. All you can do is keep trying the 800-223-4570.

Dillion finally got there call back fixed and I received a callback. I sent in my powder throw and will run through the checklist that was sent to fix my primer problems.
