A buddy asked me to smoke 2 butts for him and we had to throw 2 on for us. Outside... brown sugar, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper, garlic (lots) and cayenne. 20 hours at 225 F and lots of good smells. The final pic has 2 in a 5 inch deep pan.

Had the smoker hot, so made garlic pizza crust and spread spicy BBQ sauce on the crust and mixed some in with the meat, added red and yellow peppers, much onion, mushrooms and more garlic and baked it for about 10 minutes in the smoker at 400F. OMG was it good!

I am going to take your pizza idea and do that tonight! Thanks for sharing. Smoked 2 butts this past weekend. Sent one to inlaws and kept one at home. Been eating on it all week. That pizza idea sounds killer!

The pizza was really good. Keep in mind, maybe you do not like any heat... but in order to bring out the meat flavor and not have a bland pizza some heat must be used.

Pork butts have been $1.29/lb here lately. We've been buying them every time we see them.

The meat freezes really well after being cooked, too.

bakerjw, we snagged ours for .99/lb. Could not pass that up, put 4 more in the freezer. Only downside is the time to cook. They make a bunch of meat, pack well into vacuum freezer bags and stack well in the freezer.
