Wow. 11,000 pounds. That's a LOT of lead!

Wonder how much they paid for it. Every once in a while you hear of someone just looking for something like that to get hauled away and it would be the score of a lifetime.

I learned a long time ago ... if I can't pick it up ... it doesn't matter if it's free , I can't use it .

I've always said that big scores = big work! Thats more weight than most of us can deal with.

I bought two 300lb counter weights a few years back and have never wanted to do that again.

If I got some tin and antimony I could cast 192,500 400 grn boolits for my 45-70. Imagine how many I could get for my 25-20. I also cast for 45 Colt and 30-30. I wouldn.t have to look for lead for a while

+1 on that, plus I don't have anywhere to put it

I wish I’d snagged a 7000lb boat ballast when I saw it go by.
As far as processing it, can’t you use a Cutting torch to melt it into smaller ingots? Or is that too fuel intensive?

I would use a saws all

at the scrap yard we had 36" and 48" long cutting torches with propane and oxygen fuel with the right tip it would cut through just about anything, one day guys from fire dept came out to test out some new fire lances, like the ones they show bank robbers using in the movies, that just had I think it was just oxygen run through them, once the lance was lit and they cut absolutely everything and anything, cars, transmissions, engine blocks, 1' thick steel, big bundles of rebrand even the concrete floor. then they tested out these rescue chainsaws with carbide teeth I guess they would also cut through just about everything they tried it on but no where's near as fast as those fire lances.

That's awesome! Don't even know what I'd do with that much lead! Best score I've had was finding around 35 lbs of 50/50 solder drippings for $.50 a lb at the scrap yard. Still have maybe 30 lbs left.
