I bought these two stag handled items in a yard sale this morning with the idea of using the handles on a knife. I don't know how to remove the stag with damaging them. Any help out there would be appreciated.

I think you'd have to remove the metal end caps. But, those are pretty nice items. I believe I'd put them to use as they are and not destroy them.

The knife and fork were meant to be used for slicing and serving turkey or large roast, two things I will never do again.

If you'd like to sell them for a reasonable profit, PM me and maybe we can work out a deal. :D

You will have to slip off those encaps somehow (generally they are slip / friction fit. Then they'll slide off (barring glue application).

After getting the end caps off and the stag off , the carving set could be re- handled and put back to use . They appear to be a nice set !

They are a very nice set but of no use to me as they are. To ship them in their present length would cost too much. I do appreciate all the comments and suggestions. Thank you.

USPS makes a triangular priority box that ships for ~$12...

I would agree, they are too nice to chance ruining them.

They are most likely just stub tangs set into the handles with hide glue. Heat the blades and clamp in the vise and wiggle them till they pop loose the end caps are just caps and I have yet to see a set like this that wee either peened or set in washers.
