I need some recomendations for a 22 and 6.5 mold. I need something approx. 55 grain for the 22's and about 140 - 160 grain for the 6.5. Any recomendations would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

The RCBS 22-55-SP or the Lyman 225415 are hard to beat in the .222 or .223. If you're going Hornet, the 225415 or 225438 Lyma are the ticket./beagle

Hi, Lyman currently has two molds available; #266469 and #266673. Both are 140 grains and 150 respectively. Saeco has a 140 grain, but I do not have their catalogue handy at the moment. My choice was made some time ago and it came from RCBS as a 140 grain special order item. It was very pricey way back when at $68. and now it is a whopping $120. It has shot well for me for a long time in my Swedish Mauser. If I had to pick now between what I have mentioned above, I would go with the Lyman #266469 as the price is reasonable and it has a good reputation among 6.5 shooters. I hope that this helps. LLS

mikeh3, Which 6.5mm mold you choose will ultimately depend on the relationship between the "as cast" diameter of the bullet v. the dimension of your bore (obtained by forcing a slightly oversized lead slug/fishing sinker through the clean, but oiled bbl. from the breech). You'll want a mold that casts several thousandths of an inch larger than the bore dimension so that you can size it to fit*. Btw, the Lyman 266673 casts larger than the other Lyman mold mentioned (forgot the number). Also, there were a few Lee Precision custom designed molds produced that are heavy enough to meet your criterion and cast large enough to be sized to fit a 6.5mm bore.

*You may need to have a sizing die made if you need to size to .267" - .269"
