Just heard. Sad, he was a good performer and his heart was in the right place.

We saw him do a concert a couple of years ago in Salina. Good performer even at that age and good commentary when he wasn't singing, reminiscent of the way Marty Robbins used to do.

Played a show with Charlie Daniels many years ago, he was a gracious host as well as the consummate performer. R.I.P. Charlie Daniels..

This should not be in the pit it belongs in a different forum.

Charlie lived a colorful life. Respected in his professional entertainment world.
Admired by many for his Conservative & Patriotic beliefs. Wonderful man.
I will miss him as a Twitter friend and follower too. ☆ R.I.P. Charlie , you were bigger than life.

Sad to hear this. I love his music. I think he was a down to earth man too.

I met Charlie when he was in Jacksonville a couple years ago. Very talented, very interesting and a God fearing man who I respect highly. RIP Charlie.

I also saw him in concert a few times in the 70’s and early 80’s. Uneasy rider is still one of my favorite songs. Rip Charlie Daniels!

Thanksgiving of 81 or 82 (it's been a long time) he was touring Germany but wanted to celebrate Thanksgiving with soldiers. He joined us in the mess hall at Merrell Barracks in Nurnberg and seemed genuinely a nice guy. After dinner he had a table where he sat for hours signing autographs and taking photos with soldiers and still put on a great concert later that night. I know cause I went to it. I always thought highly of him after that and still do.

The wife and I and another couple saw him in concert. It was awesome. It seemed his energy was boundless. RIP Mister Daniels.

A good man, a good American, a good fiddler keeping time with the angels now, praising his God.

This really is horrible news! I think he would have been at least a 1 or 2 star general in the war to take back our country!

Saw him in concert with Travis Tritt less than a year ago. Great show and true gentleman, but at 83, he was understandably unable to play the fiddle and guitar like he used to. They had a stand in guitar and fiddle player off to the side of the stage doing the actual playing.

Still, he was a great showman and I'm thankful that I got to see him live one last time.

Seems the good one's are getting less and less.
Great entertainer.
He and Kenny are probably having a good time up there.

“I kicked ‘ole Green Teeth right in the shin and yelled watch out folks, he’s a furrly dangerous man .....”

That was my first exposure to Charlie Daniels on the a rock radio station as a 17 year old!

RIP Mr. Daniels!

'The devil went down' is my ring tone, the looks in public are funny. Saw him in concert once seeing that bow string frez up was great, he was a great southern rock/country artist. I still sing the real words to his songs even while in a crowd.
