Howdy neighbors,

I screwed up. I bought a new 1894CB in 45 Colt. I wanted a shorter front sight so I removed the factory one and installed a shorter one that I had in my stuff.

Instead of labelling the factory sight for future use I must have just tossed it in with the rest of my junk. Now I want to re-install the factory front sight but I have a pile of sights to choose from.

Could one of you guys tell me what the height is of the factory front sight? That would be terrific.

Thanks in advance for your help with this,

I'll try to remember to measure mine tonight. Is yours the 24" or 20" barrel?

Sorry I forgot to measure. My rifle is the 24" version, but I bet they used the same sight on both. Will report back tomorrow, been installing fiberglass insulation today.

According to the depth gage on my genuine made in China dial caliper, the height of the front sight is .425" above the barrel flat. Given a 0.090" dovetail, total sight height is 0.535".

Since the 336CB in .38-55 was right next to the .45, I measured it also. Same front sight.

I forgot to measure the bead diameter, but it is close to 1/16".

Thank you very much, that is exactly what I was looking for.
