Me? I have to work 4 12-hr shifts from 6pm to 6am Wednesday through Sunday, as usual. My girlfriend is going to a mountain town with her family to enjoy the fireworks, and my folks are taking the mule and horse down to the family cabin to avoid all the fireworks upsetting the animals. I'll meet up with them and my girlfriend on Sunday afternoon.

Just wondering what other folks are planning.

Are they even having fireworks displays in your town? I know many have been canceled this year.

It's amazing, I never saw anything like it before-
The people here spend a fortune on fireworks for all the holidays.
They're setting off the big star shells like we did strings of Black Cats as a kid.
And they're going off here & there for a few days before and after the holiday.

Our block has a parade every 4th.
Its about the most redneck event ya ever saw.

All the neighbors gather, one of the 3-4 town Cops makes it official and leads it- unless he gets a call.
I'll set off the cannon, and we'll all go about a 1/2 mile down the block on riding lawn mowers & golf carts, and have a big party.

gooberment here said no big parties.
Might grill some burgers or something.
chinese virus, and gooberment here, has put a damper on everything.

Girlfriend is coming out today and we will just stay home. No fireworks or anything in the area. Will probably hear gun shots but that is normal out here. Sometimes I think we communicate with them like drums in the jungle :bigsmyl2:

No fireworks here either... It is a real disgrace what or governor has done to the state. My tiny little town uses this event as a fund raiser for the town and they will miss it.

We have fireworks scheduled for the 3rd and we will shoot what we have on the 4th. Kids coming over but all outside so we can keep some distance. Subdued from normal but living in a town of 800 people, a Black-Cat and a sparkler is big time entertinment!

It's been years since Monterey, Ca had a fireworks show. People would gather along the ocean to watch fireworks shot from a barge. The people on the beach would contribute their own fireworks during lulls, many were just as big as the official show. That was just too much Independence for the City so they Shut It Down.

I was driving back from Arizona July 4th several years ago and came up the 101 between Paso Robles and Salinas about dusk. Every little hamlet I passed had a show, not the fireworks stand stuff but real shells. Made me feel better that the 4th lives on somewhere.

The celebration in my small town (population of about 600) has been attracting large numbers of people from many miles around for quite a few years now. It has actually outgrown that small town but the celebration continues to grow. It is simply too much for my old, worn out bones anymore, so we just stay home where it is quiet, and then in the evening we place chairs out on the front lawn and watch the gigantic fireworks display from about 2 1/2 miles away.

Also, if the weather is nice, we just might be making some noise of our own at the backyard shooting range. The crack of a rifle and the ringing of steel is a very delightful sound.

Normally I have to escort the fireworks barge on the 4th, but that's been cancelled. And the beach is closed so I won't be playing Baywatch either.

I still have to work a 12 hour day. I'd like to celebrate later, but I may be pretty well out of energy after that shift.

Years back I used to make triangle salutes with fffg, newspaper, strapping tape and cannon fuse. You could toss them in the lake. Nice big boom. But they made the neighbors anxious so I quit making them. I have to be content watching the fireworks now.

My town of 600 normally has one of the biggest parades and fireworks shows in the area. That's all been canceled. My plans consist of continuing to use a mantis x to teach myself how to shoot a rifle.

Going to our co-grandparents house and the kids and grandkids will be there. Cookout and shooting .22's with the older grandkids (oldest is 7) and with my co-grandfather - taking my Remington R-51 with me to see how reliable it is - last time I shot it about 30 times, this time I'm taking 100 rds with me. I doubt any fireworks around but haven't bothered to check - haven't gone to see them in years.

Our fireworks show was cancelled, but the little town about 20 miles north, is still scheduled. Denver is complaining that people are going to Wyoming to buy fireworks and setting them off in town. Hey, if you are going to cancel all the shows on the front range, people still want to celebrate!!!

Going to go to my Parents during the day. Then watch our fireworks when i get home. They were cancelled. But they changed their minds and are having a display.

Small town Minnesota has everything cancelled, just another Saturday. We are far enough from the big city that any Bolshevik rioters leave us alone.

Nothing much. Probably grill something and have my Mother and the Wifes sister over. Both boys are going to the lake (different lakes) with their respective inlaws. We have been invited but with social distancing and being a 2 hour drive away we'll just stay at home this year. Happy 4th to everyone!

My wife will work her usual shift. We plan on attending Buttes fireworks on the 3rd. It is a good time, most are sober and it leaves the 4th open for other stuff. We will grill something and enjoy life.

My wife and I will stay home on the ranch.

There are some fireworks shows in spite of Covid restrictions. Most of them are put on by a Family that has their storage magazine on our ranch to supply their commercial shows.

The reason we invited this family to store their inventory here is because during the winter months, elk ravage our hay stacks. We use consumer grade pyrotechnics to haze the away and guess who takes care of us.

Also, if we went through the class they put on periodically for safety training we could help set off shows with his supervision. One of these days we will take him up on his offer!

His biggest pyro item is a Sixteen inch mortar round. It requires a 10 foot long tube 16 inches in inside diameter to properly launch it. The rule of thumb is that you get 75 feet of lift per inch of diameter with a pyro mortar. That comes out to an elevation of 1100 feet. The shell is supposed to produce a 600 foot diameter display plume. As I understand it the shells of that magnitude are more typically fired off of barges. If you fire on land you need a lot of clearance from buildings etc. .... and a well stocked fire truck? LOL!

I will be at my clubs indoor range on the 4th. Members only, and will not see very many people. Mask required to enter, may remove on the range where the ventilation is. needless to say I will use the range also. Sounds like a hard days work!

If you were in Washington, I'd take care of at least one of those elk for you... I've lived here 5 years and still haven't gotten a Washington hunting license. I still go every year with my dad and brother in Idaho, but don't shoot anything.

SoCial is not happy with the power drunk Gov.

Were all staying in and watching fireworks on an outdoor screen....

Not much going on here as far as I know - our first 4th in Arizona due to me recovering from surgery. Things have tightened up again due to Covid - we will be spending our time inside since the weekend is supposed to be hot. Our flag will be flying however, as it always does. We live in a 55 + community and I have often told people that I can tell every Republican residence on the street . . . it's pretty simple . . we all have flags out on display. I'm surprised all the Left Socialists haven't tried to abolish the 4th of July and replace it with "Take a rioter to lunch day".

:D HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.That 16 incher just might be an excellent crowd dispersal instrument.Lay it a bit off level, and fire it down the street at the rioters loaded with an aerial bomb, not a star burst:twisted::twisted: HeHeHe.As for me,I`m staying home away from all the drunks, junkies and pill popping idiots.
Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

GF is here, been staying here since the beginning of the covid thing, we plan on doing BBQ baby backs and tater salad, corn on the cob, baked beans, sweet tea and cornbread! :bigsmyl2:

And a BIG THANKS to all of those who contributed to our freedom to do exactly as we please! We really should call Independence Day Thanksgiving Day and call the latter Turkey Day.

As a footnote, I hear more hi capacity magazines being emptied than I ever did fireworks in this pissant little town I live in. Still, the rifle and shotgun will be on elevated risk just in case some of the locals decide to venture out of da hood and tread on our street spraying lead and discontent.

Plan to spend the day in my workshop, and the son and I may go see some fireworks somewhere in the area. We'll likely park somewhere near the venue. Midwest City is having fireworks, and a couple of other smallish towns nearby.

Neighbors have been setting off fireworks for about a month now. My poor dog is on about his last nerve.

I am in Washington, but the hay stacks are over on a Reservation. I can’t hunt them either ....

I have Tribal hunters that harvest them but there is a limit to what they can handle. The herd moves off but is back in a couple of hours. Then they are hazed off by Jeep or snowmobile. Then they come back around 2:00 AM.

A few years ago we were dealing with 300 head every night. They came in a packed column 3/4 of a mile long.

Smoked boar shoulder with other eats, beer, and family. Sons bringing fireworks as the love of his life likes them, kinda new to me but if it makes them happy I’m in. Don’t know what the government thinks, don’t really care, my farm I’ll do what I want. They sell it, so guess we can light it off.
Was watching a Brian Shaw utube ( shawstrength, or “history’s strongest man”) and saw they were doing a show on revolutionary war strong man and had a segment on shooting the musket. I don’t have a musket, but a flint Tn mountain rifle. Thinking I may let some of them shoot it to get a feel of what it was really like “way back”. Most people now have probably never even seen a flintlock long rifle like used at Kings Mountain. A teaching moment and fun too boot!

Ahh... You must be up in the middle/Northern part of the state.

We have a decent herd down in this area, but they hang out on private property and you have to be really good friends with a farmer to hunt deer or elk around here.

The 4th is a big event here.
The big star shells have been going off around the neighborhood all night in bursts like micro wave pop corn.

It's 11 now, and that wonderful smell of clouds of burnt black powder has been in the air since it got dark.
