can someone tell me where to find reliable load data for .45 colt and .44 special to be used in older colt revolvers-i have a small amount of data in an older speer manual in the case of .45 colt but none for the .44 spec

Lymans cast manuel. It's my reloading bible for cast and light rifle rounds. 3rd and 4th editions go hand and hand.

Factory load velocity using soft 8-12 BHN lead bullets of standard weight and profile for the caliber are closely approximated with 5 grains of Bullseye and 240-grain bullet in .44 Special, 6 grains with 215-grain bullet in the .44-40 and 7 grains with 255-grain bullet in the .45 Colt.

Hank-- it might be a good idea to provide a little more information about your "older Colt revolvers." What models, and how older?
