OK my brother traded for a almost new 10 1/2" 460 S&W revolver
I know the guy he got it from and he claims 12 rounds is all he shot
As he said the price of ammo was to high

Not sure how dead the deer need to be .... But Oh well I use a 45/70 BFR LOL

But to mess around he wants to shoot a 45 Colt like load
But he has 460 brass ordered ( Starline I think ) and ONLY wants to use the 460 S&W brass
So he wants to load in the 460 S&W brass a load like what we both use for plinking in the 45 Colt

Like in a 45 Colt Case , 8 gr of Unique , a 250 gr cast bullet and a standard Large Pistol primer

I know the longer brass will change pressure for the load
But I have no clue where to start for helping him work up a load

Ideas ?

Quickload says 10 grains of Unique should give you 1050fps-ish @ 10kpsi. It may not seal at that low pressure and give you black cases...

AA#2 works great for low volume loads in large cases. 11 grains should give just under 1100fps @ 11kpsi

19.0 grains of 2400 was what a friend of mine was using with an RCBS 45-270 SWC. I'd estimate 12,0 grains of Unique or 13,0 grains of Herco would also be useful..

Thanks
LOL He can just clean the pistol if the loads don't seal
He has 45 Colt brass

FWIW, you can also use 454 casull cases

Don’t forget that deep seating can get rid of a lot of that excess case volume and keep your light powder charge from wondering aimlessly around that huge case.

LOL
Both my brother and I have Ruger Blackhawlk 45 colt pistols
I also have a Ruger Super RedHawlk in 454 Casull
So my brother is being .... Blockheaded
He claims he read that 460 Brass is somehow needed in the revolver

But he has shot my 454 a number of times using 45 colt reloads
So I bet after a short while
He will be using the 45 colt brass and just cleaning the chambers
