I'd like to make some FL cases for this old gal. All my research points to the 5in1 blank case as having the best fit. Starline would be happy to sell me some if I'd buy a thousand of them. Not in this lifetime. So far, the closest I can find is with the 9.3x74R. Does anyone have a better solution for me?
Thanks for looking; Pepe Ray

Midway sells Starline 5 in 1 in smaller quantities for a 1.6 inch case, which works well in the 2-inch .44 XL chamber.

but 9.3x74R [if you can find any] gives you a 2-7/8" case after fire-forming, which is a better fit for a 3-inch .410

Had never heard of a 44xl before.

Without doing a lot of digging, would a 444 Marlin make a good donor case?

It would work, but base will swell some and rim diameter may be too small to engage extractor.

Much easier to get Magtech .410 all-brass and cut off as needed to fit chamber,

I have found a quantity of 9.3x74R, both new and once fired. In blowing out the brass, will there be a significant difference in one from the other? Will the method used be of importance? As you can see in my avatar pic, I've tried to do this before, with discouragement. - - Pepe Ray

I use fire-formed 9.3x74R or Mag-Tech all-brass in standard 3-inch .410s with no issues.

In older 2-inch .44XL and2-inch .410 Eley chambers the Starline 1.6" 5 in 1 blank case is better.
