Anyone sign up for a census job? I worked it back in 2000 so I figured what the heck. I filled out an application online, then I got an email that said I was accepted for a position. A few weeks went by, then I got a phone call and they did a phone interview. I gotta say, everyone I spoke with on the phone was friendly but their accents were very hard to understand. OK, I got the job, minimum of 20 hrs per week, in my area. Then I got an email that said I had to be fingerprinted. I picked the location from their list, and the time, and that day I drove 25 miles or so to the specified location (about 15 miles north of Boston). The email said to wait in my car until someone came out to get me. OK, I pulled into the lot of the nationally known hotel and began looking for signs to tell me where to wait. Nothing. No one around. I drove around the large building a few times...nothing. No one. No signs...nothing. I went home.
I got an email that night that said I missed my fingerprinting appointment.
Two thoughts:
1. It's a scam.
2. If it's legit, they're so friggin' incompetent that I don't think I'd work for them again.

It's MA....I vote for "friggin' incompetent'.

I can't wait to move out of this state.

need to be fingerprinted to count people but nothing is needed to vote.

I do....the fingerprinting is concurrent with a background check. Put off now till 8/31 but training sooner. They want me to work full time but they don't understand hunting season....

I worked the census in 2000 in rural Idaho. Never again. One of the three times in my life I had to clear leather. There's some odd people up in those mountains.

I could just imagine getting buried in the yaak for those same types of encounters

I worked it in 2000, said I'd never do it again, but, what the heck, I applied. I don't think I'll do it if they contact me again.
I keep thinking about the LONGMIRE episode where he finds the body of a census worker in Chance Gilbert's freezer...

Don't forget--
You are also responsible for what some of our ancestors did 300 years ago,
but illegal alien parents aren't responsible for their DACA kids.
