Has anyone loaded the 17 rem. with 17 cal air rifle pellets and just a primer for a charge?
Groundhog problem in the neighborhood.

Haven’t tried that in mine. I’d just grab one of my pellet rifles if using the 17 rem was not an option. 22 short utilizing a baby nipple? Firecracker season is just about here as well.

Baby nipple, I never heard of that. how much does it cut the sound of a 22 short?
Going to load a few pellets in my 17 and see what happens as well.

Sound is reduced by 1/3 I reckon.

Do you think a 22 cal pellet instead of the 17 fired from a 223 using shotshell primer would work on a groundhog ?

Air gun pellets are very undersized compared to firearm bores. I tried doing this 20 years ago, 22 cal pellet in a 223 bolt gun. So inaccurate, I couldn't reliably hit a gallon milk jug at 25 feet.

Yes I think it would, I know it will go thru a small town phone book, a 1X6 and then kill a chicken

Aguilla makes a powderless 22LR, its quite fun and quieter than an Airgun.

I have done 22 cal pellets in 22 hornet and 22-250, testing primers. I used standard small and large rifle primers. I did find loading the pellet backwards skirt out like a hollow point improved accuracy. With the hornet loaded normal I would occasional blow a skirt off. Some deformed and killed accuracy with the pressure

Been playing around using the 22cal pellet as the piont on hot glue bullet looks promising . Hot glue bullet fits the bore so is more accurate. This is in the 223 using shotshell primer
