I'm trying to change carriers to get a cheaper plan.

Going from tmoblie to tracfone.

I want to keep my old number.

Went to target and they said I needed the pin code and to unlock the phone.

Went back home to call tmoblle.

Got a pin code, and waiting for them to send instructions on how to unlock the phone.

Does this sound correct?????

I've had to do the same when moving a phone between carriers. The unlock procedure wasn't too difficult as I recall, but it was several years ago.

If you don't hear from t mobile, there may be something on YouTube or the tracphone folks may be able to do it.

So.........was on the phone with tmobile.
Seems the phone is so old, they can't find how to unlock it.
Said the tech department has to work on it.
They will send a email with the info.

Just did that for my dad. In my case I needed to give the old pin to the new carrier so the old carrier would release the number.

What kind of phone?
I have an old iPhone SE I bought from tracphone for like $99. When it arrived, it looked to me like it was brand new. Every week tracphone sends me an email offering several good deals on phones if you set up service with them. These aren’t iPhones, but usually refurb Samsung, LTC, or Motorola, ranging in price from $19-59. It might be worthwhile to consider ordering a refurbished phone from them and set it up instead of trying to use what you currently have.

It was a old samsung C225 phone.
Older than old.
It was starting to show problems, so decided to get a new one.
Didn't want to pay $25 a month, so found a $20 for 90 day/ 120 minutes plan with Tracfone.
I use less than 10 minutes a month, if that.
Finally got it done today.
Called tmobile in the morning and got the unlock instructions figured out.
Went to the store and got my old number changed to the new phone.
Total cost less than $40.
Phone was on sale for $10.
It was a new flip phone.
End up saving $240 a year on phone cost.
Plus I now have a camera phone.
All happy now.
