Where does a guy go to get a factory pawl? Brownells and Midway don't show them anymore.

Thanks Scott

Try Ruger. But it may need a gunsmith to fit it. Ruger may replace it for free, but you may wait a while for the repair/return.

+1 on calling Ruger, they will usually replace or fix anything for free.
And I’ve broken a LOT of stuff...

I have a question about the factory pawl(s); Do they have one which will index the chambers for loading? My second-hand Bisley .44 mag is annoying to load, having to have the chambers carefully held in position, but my Super Blackhawk chambers align with the loading gate when rotated against the pawl (hand) and loading is easy by comparison. Not sure why they'd be different. . . . .

Another consideration would be a free spin pawl. The problem is fitting them and cost. Being unafraid of a file, I fitted them on mine. However, an aggressive swipe of the file throws about $40ish in the garbage. If you have a new Flattop it's much easier.

Some may consider the free spin a solution looking for a problem though.

Olarmsofidaho.com has blackhawk pawls. Could also try ebay. For a free spin pawl you can also modify your existing pawl to make it a free spin. If one goes too crazy modifying the existing pawl you just buy another standard for much less than the free spin pawl.

Get a "Free Spin Pawl from Brownell's. It allows the cylinder to turn both ways.

Mine would go past the loading port and you couldn't turn it back and I had to go all the way around to get the chamber to align right. PITB!

Free Spin Pawl eliminates this problem completely. You'll probably need someone to install it as it isn't that easy to do. I did mine but like I said it wasn't that easy, and I almost cried a few times. :-|

But it does what it is supposed to do, and I like it alot.
