Teflon patching

we are every day using repurposed materials ad substances the idea of paperpatching actually stimulated my mind,what about protecting the base with( in place of poly ethlene plastic,how about Teflon plumbers tape,it is thin,flexible,apparently heat resistant,I originally thought of wrapping it around like paper patch,a 3" double wrap on a .458 Made .459 HOWEVER it's lubricity in a wrap around made me wonder if the bullet would just shoot out of the wrap leaving it behind( maybe in the barrel?)however it occured to me that a cross piece loaded into the case around the bullet would not have this tendency.any thoughts sorry just came to me!

I tried it with 45-70 but gave up on it. It turned out to be a big mess.

You probably be better off using a powder coat containing some teflon........I suspect plumbers tape at 50c a roll doesnt actually have much teflon in it ......I know seals and O rings of teflon cost a great deal more .

Comes up a few times a year, don’t recall any stories of success.

Eventually the Teflon goos up in the barrels/cases, far better off trying labels with the peel off backing.

Same thing that's wrong with using regular lubed cast bullets....

I would think you'd get better results with a good Teflon tape, the stuff they sell in the big box stores is junk. I get my ptfe from my local plumbing/heating supply, they have the cheap stuff but they also have better stuff. Teflon also comes in different widths I would think wider is better too. I use Blue Monster Teflon it comes in 1/2", 3/4" & 1".

You know, I like and shoot thousands & thousands of PC'd and J-words every year and I do love them. They have their place now. That said, my favorite is still good ole lubed cast boolits. If I had to pick one kind to use for the rest of my days... Plug in the furnace and pass me a mold!
