Worth the effort?

I’ve got a Savage Target actioned heavy rifle currently wearing a 8 twist 6.5x55 barrel. 29 inches long. I also have a 8 twist 6BR barrel for it that’s 30 inches long.

Neither barrel has ever seen cast but today I was knocking around the idea.
My question is would it be worth the bother with those tight twists and long barrels? I know that’s very subjective but happy to hear some opinions.

Be careful as you will experience RPM fatigue. I fought the battle with my Norwegian Krag in 6.55x55 and learned that I was limited to 1350 ft/sec.

Heavier, harder boolits will be your friend, friend. Slow burning powders and solid fit at the base. They will shoot.
