AIM surplus has these at a good price - are they worth it?

I had a stainless steel one a few years back.......it worked okay. The factory magazine was a *** though as I recall. It uses standard 1911 magazines so that wasn't hard to remedy.

Yes, They are very popular up here. Mostly see the Tisas Canuck in 45ACP but they also make a 9mm version. The Canuck model has the rail. Seem to be a good solid shooter.

I have the 1911a1 army model and could not be more pleased.
Have about 300 rds thru it with nary a hitch. Great gun for the
money.

I have their Zig M1911, bought a couple of years ago new. It came with a Mec-Gar 8-round magazine. Took it out of the box, and shook it, and it didn't rattle like the old GI 1911's my dad trained me on. I bought it a couple of cheap no-name mags, and they've been a bit problematic, but the Meg-Gar mag still works fine. I love it! Mine is painted black, with brown plastic grips. They work, just not what I want. Got it for $375 NIB. You could certainly do worse. I've run a box or two of Winchester factory hardball, and two or three hundred rounds of cast lead through it. I am still happy with it.

You get what you pay for, price makes them popular. Like other low end guns you may get one that works fairly well and one that don’t. Most fall in the middle. I read one account that a guy has one that shots better than a Gold Cup.

That is a good price. ($379). If you get a good one. I recently got my first 1911 and went with the Springfield Range Officer. Yes it cost more but I wanted one I didn’t have to tinker with to make it a good shooter. The Range Officer comes with a match grade barrel, adjustable sights, and mine came with three mags. I ended up paying a little extra because the LGS had it in stock. I think I paid $739 for it (total). It also came with a holster, case, and 2 pouch mag holder.

I bought a Tisas 1911A1 a few months back from Classic Arms for $350+ ship and transfer.

I purposely did not strip clean or lube it and I've fired about 300 rnds through it without a hitch. My dealer who received it was very impressed with the fit and finish. The Mec Gar 8 rnd mag works fine and I bought 3 Wilson Combat mags because they were local and I didn't have to have them shipped. The Mec Gar mags work great and are a lot less $.

I'm happy with mine.
