I recently acquired a pre 68 Mossberg 500AT that was left neglected in a hoarders home. It has gotten wet and of course rusted. I was able to clean the barrel and innerds but have a problem with the bolt. The extractors are rusted and won't freely move. I've soaked them in PB Blaster, but can't get the pin to remove them to budge.

Will a newer bolt be compatale? This is one with the single action bar instead of the newer double. Complete bolts and carriers are available on EBay reasonably, but will they fit the older shotgun?

Call Mossberg. They should be able to answer that.

Degrease it well first, then soak it overnight (or a day or 2) in Evaporust.
Works like magic, wont harm steal, just eats only the rust.

You can get it online, at Harbor Freight, or I believe Home Depot or Lowes or
probably any hardware store.
You can re-use the solution pretty much indefinitely, it still works fine even when cloudy/dirty.

You need to degrease the part well to get the best results!

I have used soaking small parts hot water and citrus acid to clean rust off , after a good cleaning - oiling is necessary .
But about bolt interchangeable ???????

I've never tried Evaporust, I'll give it a try. I did use an ultrasonic cleaner on it but that didn't do I except boil out crud.

Try 50-50 mixture of ATF and acetone.

Try reverse electrolysis. You may need it to go for a week ,but it should work.
