Anyone use soy wax instead of beeswax in traditional BPCR lubes? I have the chance to snag a small quantity from a friend whose wife is over her candle making experiments.

Sounds like a possibility.. If it does not work matbe you can use it on surfboards. ALL NATURAL.. BIODEGRADABLE..

I tried my Wife's soy candle stuff........didn't work worth a damn. Melting point is too low and it doesn't want to mix with half the stuff I use. Went back to bee's wax.

I wish it would have worked, or if anyone knows a secret to it......there's a 50 pound box of it in the closet.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll stick to what works.

Charlie, I've shot over 12,000 CAS 45 Colts (250gr) lubed with soy wax, beeswax and some jojoba oil. Use it for lubing the PRS big lube bullets. Works fine - no leading and always a star lube on the muzzle

Fo a year or so, was using it with beeswax for BPCR - worked fine with the heavy bullets too. Have since cut over to a modified Pope Lube with mutton tallow and bayberry wax as the base ingredients

Soy wax is used in several lubes for BP. It is both used with beeswax and without. If I had some I would not be afraid to use it.

Well I ended up inheriting the soy wax anyway. My friend stuffed a box of it in the back of my truck over the weekend. I now have about 7 lb. of vanilla, cinnamon and pine scented wax. I guess I'll make up some small batches of Emmert's and Wolfe's lubes and give it a try.
