I may be away for a few days here and there for mothers care/family business
She had a stroke 4 days ago. Paralyzed left side.
To make matters worse shes diabetic and type A bloodtype. 2 more strikes for bad coronavirus complications if caught
We had planned her final trip back to the homeland (Deutschland) for spring but coronavirus stopped that.
Please prayer for recovery
Many thanks

Augercreek will do. lots of issues with the corona virus. I am 3 hrs away. Can not go see her Hospital will NOT allow it. Cant get many reports from the drs as they will only call when they have time. Non covid areas are now UNDERSTAFFED. Cant get her on the phone unless a nurse will take her one and hold the phone while her trys to speak. Her speech is slurred so talking and understanding what is said is difficult.
Its all difficult to get any good info

Father, Please be with Smoke's mother as she recovers from her stroke. Please guide her medical team and her therapists that are plotting the path to her comfort and healing. Father, with all of her medical problems please protect her from exposure to Covid19. Please help Smoke and his family know the right path to follow and keep them safe as they attend to his mother. AMEN

Please keep us informed about her and your needs....Paul

Father God. I lift up Smoke's mother to you today. Be with the doctors and give them the wisdom they need to provide treatment. Give her the healing that she currently needs. Be with Smoke as he is not allowed to see her to comfort her because of the current Covid-19 problem. Give the family strength while she is in the hospital. Protect her for this Covid-19 while she is in the hospital. I pray this in the name of your Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen

Update
They have moved mother to a physical therapy unit as of 10:30 this morning
I know nothing of stroke recovery times but it seems quick for 5 days from ICU to physical therapy

Smoke, prayers sent to you, your mom and family. Dad's first was left side, went to rehab when stable. Recovered almost completely, talking well, walking with walker as aid. Got in a rush, then fell and broke leg. Rehab was good, had him bouncing ballons, talking, then walking. Some stuff has to be relearned.

No visits. Hospital will not let any visitors in
Going to try calling today
See if nurses will even take a phone to her

Hey Smoke, Hope things are going better.
Just wanted to throw in for the recovery side, because I am pushing the positive outcome for you all.
Soonest activity in physical therapy will help get the best expected outcome. I'm sure other stroke survivors might back me up on this. It seems the worst outcomes I've seen were from those who tried thinking they were too independent and refused support or PT.
It's a setback, but we have to stay positive and keep moving forward. A cane or a walker, is still forward.

Oh since you mentioned it. A burner phone, like from cricket might be useful to you in this situation, if they agreed to it.

May God's richest blessings be upon your Mom, and the whole family. Not being able to visit her is tough. Does she have a cell phone? Can you take her one? Or at least to the nurses and then have them take it to your Mom? Prayers up, for her and all who love her.

Well the physical therapy place finally let me "visit" my mother. Had her on a balcony 10-15 ft up in the air and myself and my son about 6" back from the wall.
Her speech is much improved. Probably 80 to 85% normal. They had her left hand/arm strapped to the wheelchair so that told me all I needed to know on the paralysis.
She did say she way able to slightly move her left foot in therapy so there is hope for some recovery

Blackwater
her NEW IPhone 11 mysteriously disappeared in the ambulance trip to the hospital. She has an Ipad there but says she can't hold it since left hand/arm useless
Also says too tiring to try right now. Eventually we can do facetime after we can visit and rig up a stand. Doctors/nurses too busy right now/short staffed to deal with it.

Hang in there . With all the things going on that are it's hard on a lot of friends and family because of the restrictions on visitation . I go to a lot of nursing home and the visitation has stopped . I am praying for her and the family in these crazy times .

sorry to hear about your mom, glad she's getting some function back. She doesn't have to be able to walk to visit Europe, but it may be a while before she (or Europe) is ready

It's a sin what happens in eldercare facilities and to our elderly. People taking advantage of them and stealing from them because most elderly don't know any better and are susceptible to smooth talkers.

Both my grandmothers and parents were in church-run facilities and many of the pretty and nice things I gave them to make their life more comfortable/enjoyable disappeared including expensive jewelry.

IF anyone has a friend or relative in an elder care facility, swap out their expensive family heirloom jewelry with comparable costume jewelry and mark anything you take them permanently and prominently.

My grandmother loved (they were the only thing comfortable) expensive sweaters, all hers kept disappearing until I wrote her name on the outside of the back collar with a permanent marker. Engrave any electronics etc.

They're doing a lot of significant things with stroke now. May your Mom receive the best care, and God's blessings. Amen.
