When did Ruger start roll stamping the warning on their guns?

1973
It was shortly after a guy in Alaska shot himself in the leg, accidental discharge, by loading the original 6 gun with 6 bullets and he sued Ruger and won.
Ruger then designed the transfer bar system, new model, so that the hammer of the gun did not rest on the firing pin.

The new model came out in 73, but the warning roll mark was 78 or so. Non roll marked NMs are desirable to some.

I think the roll mark is after 1976, because a friend has a Liberty model and doesn't have the warning.

Anybody know when they moved them from the side of the barrel to the bottom? Just curious.

I think I read somewhere that it was early 2000s when it was moved to the bottom. Can't remember for sure though, will have to see if I can find it.

Early to mid 2000s when they moved the mark. My 2015 SBH is on the bottom.

I have a 2003 BH with it on the side.
