I’m increasing my thread count so bear with me. I shoot the 9.3x62, 30-06, 223 and .43 Beaumont. Of the bunch I like the 9.3. It’s not too much, just right. Doesn’t kick bad, and is good out to 200 yds. Best for cast boolet loads. I use it for less than 100 yds that way, then 286 gr nosier gets the nod. I don’t shoot much over 50 yds, generally.

Don’t get much practice tracking.

I had the pleasure of using a CZ 550 American in 9.3 for a year and it was flawless. I used a 270 gr Speer on a fat doe at 100 yards offhand and she spun like a weather vane on her way down. Living in the Cross Timbers a big gun isn't a need I have but if I ever go to the mountains to live- that, or the .35 Whelen will go with me. No magnumitis for me no more. I did develop a paper patched .358RN 158 gr. Load that shot ok to 40 yards but fell off quick past that.

You can boost your cast bullet range up to around 225 yards for point blank. No need for the jacketed.

The 9.3x62 is a cartridge that has interested me for about 30 years and sadly I've never shot or obtained one . Few years back we got a NIB CZ550 FS in 9.3x62 for a customer . I have the same configuration in a 6.5x55 and wouldn't mind having a nice used or still NIB 550 FS in 9.3x62 to go with the Swede . But I just might have waited to long since the 550 FS has vanished from sight at CZ and if I'm not mistaken they don't even chamber the new version for the cartridge .

I had a Remington 700 Classic in 35 Whelen about thirty years ago and had very good luck with it all be it just on whitetails . I'd like to have a 9.3x62 just in case I'm ever able to visit a Scandinavian country in pursuit of a Bullwinkle . Probably never go there to hunt but it doesn't hurt to dream and have another rifle .

I have a Zastava mod 70 LH 9.3x62 and it has become my go to deer killer. We hunt the cedar swamp hardwood edges and wounded deer can be hard to find. The last one i shot the went 10’. One kick of the hind legs. I used a NOE 368-285( I think that’s the # ) with a charge of Varget. Most deer just go 35-60 yds because I lung shoot them to save the meat in the shoulders. But leave a blood trail on both sides.

Reply to 6pt-sika: Looking at Gunbroker this afternoon and there is a CZ550 9.3x62 Manlicher carbine with a Burris scope up for bids. I passed on one several years ago with later regrets. I resolved that itch last year with a JP Sauer 100. It has typical German quality workmanship and is a wonderfully accurate cast bullet shooter. It is not a CR feed like the CZ and has a molded synthetic stock instead of real checkered wood. The price was right and I have no regrets on this one.

I bought a 9.3x57 barreled action off a guy about six years ago . I had intentions of getting it stocked and of course using it . But one thing after another and I ended up selling it .

I have both the 9.3 x 62 and the 9.3 x 57.
For some reason I like the 9.3 x 57 just a tad more.
I am pushing 200 grain cast (Powder coated bullets out at about 2350 fps with WC735 (H335 equivalent sort of) and getting 1.5" to 2" groups at 50 yards.
The mold is from Accurate and drops at 0.367" Powder coat pushes them up to 0.368" and I size to 0.368 to crimp the Freechex gas check.

I was sort of planning to thump a bear with the gun (L46 Husqvarna) this spring, but life gets in the way.

Tom Myers posted load information for the 9.3x57 286gr with W760 and IMR4350 for me. It's on the sticky in the Reloading Equipment section

I like some of you missed the boat on the CZ 550’s FS. One thing CZ did on the 550 FS’s, the European cartridge chambered guns had a different checkering pattern than rifles chambered in American cartridges. It is simply a lovely pattern on a new production gun .
