Green Dot in .45 ACP.....

Anybody use Green Dot in there .45 ACP?

It is a little cleaner burning than Unique. We used it once when I had run out of U stuff. Don't hold me to it But I recall using one full grain less than my Unique load for the 200 & 210 grain cast bullet. uncle mike

Just tried some. 5 grains with rcbs 230g got me a hair over 900fps in the ballester molina. 4.8 was 850 and accuracy improved. Cases came out fairly clean.

I have used Green Dot in .45 ACP with out any problems, it is hard to find a powder that doesn't work well in a .45 ACP.

I've used Green Dot in my 45s and it works OK. Now I use WST for lead bullets. It has the same burn rate as Green Dot, is much cleaner and more accurate to boot.

Yep, many years ago. I used to be a bit more challenged for money and most went into skeet loads. So, I would used whatever powder I had for the shotguns in the .45. Sometimes determined by what the local retailers had on the shelf. Green Dot was one of those, along with Blue Dot. Don't remember trying Red Dot but probably did. 700X I think was another one.

I started reloading myself during the last great shortage and casting my own in 2014.
I used a few pounds of green dot when I could find it, along with anything else that would safely go bang in 45acp.
It went bang and the bullet hit the target and made round holes in paper.
My experience and expectations were low then so I can’t really say whether it was good or bad.
I was just happy to find anything in stock.

I have a keg of green dot from the 1990’s when I loaded it in 20 & 28 ga. For skeet loads.
I have loaded it in 45 ACP with 200 gr. cast and it performs fine in several 45’s I have.
I think I was loading near 5 grains and it was accurate !

Was given two kegs a while back when an acquaintance moved. Shot most of it up in the .45 and it did well for me./beagle

I been using G.D in 45 acp and 45 colt. Very satisfied with it.

I went to green dot when 4756 went away, use a lot of it in the shotgun, works well enough to not justify another powder.
