Got "Football" box. Not a box anymore, all rounded you know. I'm working on it to check for damage, Bob should get his shipping back. It'll be a little while to process, I'm in middle of replacing shop lights that failed with LED. Lots of rewiring. Gotta see to find stuff going in box, flashlite ain't much help.

How do you like the lights so far?

Not so great in day, at nite seem to be good replacement for the 96" HO bulbs. (2ea) There is some shading hi up due to the angle of the LEDs. Think I'm gonna be a convert if they hold up, voltage & spikes can be dearth of leds. Got 4 packs from the big "A" for a little more than single bulb price. The power savings will pay for the bulbs in less than a year. Whups, perhaps not the best comments in this thread. Let me know....

Interesting on the voltage spikes. I put an LED in the kitchen. And when the AC kicks in they flash. The old fluorescent didn't do that. They were the thick bulbs.

Working on the box. It’s packed tight. I had some 1/8” masonite & made a liner box inside the cardboard. I don’t think I can fit all the remaining stuff back in the box, but will try. Planning to Mondo tape it when I get all arranged. Not quite ready to post a list of stuff just yet. Note: I have Not counted all the items, but believe all the inventory is near correct at this time. I am counting the items I take & am pretty close to correct with the items added.

How exactly does this Box process work?

Do you ship the box to someone, take what you need out of it, and ship it to somewhere and someone else that would like some of its contents?

I'm not as interested in its contents but it seems to be a very interesting way to get the odds and ends that you may need.

This is really a thread bump, as I am enjoying reading it,,
but,,
how about an idea?

The box seems to be really over filled,,
maybe, there could be a negotiated cash donation to CastBoolits for the goods removed?

That would accomplish several things,
*make the box much more shippable
*get some cash flowing to our favorite most worthwhile forum
*take the pressure off the guys that are trying to make sure they adequately donated
*include guys that would like some of the stuff, but, may not currently have adequate extra stuff to add to the box.

I know I would be more than happy to buy stuff from the box at near list price,
if I knew the $,$$$ was going to a good cause, rather than some faceless retailer that already has too much money!! :bigsmyl2:

I have been casting boolits exactly 51 hours, so I have not been accumulating STUFF very long,, but,
there is some extra cash in the bottom of my wife's purse that I could part with!! :mrgreen:
(Heck, I am so new to this boolit stuff,, I have not learned the terminology,, like "PC",, I have never seen a Politically Correct boolit!)

PC = powder coated. Baked on powder coat paint acts as a polymer bullet jacket.

As far as buying the items in the box, I am opposed to it. It takes the fun out of it, and gives those with money an edge over those with stuff to give. I don't have much money but often have extra stuff.

If it's a "the box is full" issue, the extra should be given on the helping hands or PIF.

Ill take a look at the things in there when I receive it. I was told it had 45LBS of stuff and was well packed. plolly looks like a football and packed with fiberglass packing tape inside and out. if it gets here in 1 piece Ill let you know. right now it is still in transit. PHyrbird, if you fit 45# in that thing, I'll probably hire you to pack the moving truck when we move to AZ-- Wife has a a lot of stuff (junk) -- She would say the same about me too.. lolz

removed the .40 cartriges (X32 .430 from 40 S&W swaged hollow point)that were live but had the primer dimpled. A small jar or jolt can cause them to fire
as they already are damaged (also by federal regulations any amount of powder requires hazmat fee of $50.00) remember nothing is ever just tossed around in a USPS truck They handle everything like it is glass.

It seems to me that this box is about done. There is perhaps too much variety and not enough quantity. Send it to me and I’ll bust it up, sending out those things that folks want (perhaps asking them to start a normal PIF in response) and scraping the rest.

I’ve spoken to Bazoo since he started the thread and he’s okay with this. Anyone have any concerns or objections? If not, I’ll PM my address to ulk77more and ask that if there is something that you want from the box to post it in this thread.

I just retired from the Army and my last 3 years were in Korea, where there is zero acceptance for privately owned firearms. So before I went there I got rid of a lot of reloading components. Now I'm back home I'm trying to restock my supplies... But the ammo shortage is severely hampering things.

removed the .40 cartriges (X32 .430 from 40 S&W swaged hollow point)that were live but had the primer dimpled. A small jar or jolt can cause them to fire
as they already are damaged (also by federal regulations any amount of powder requires hazmat fee of $50.00) remember nothing is ever just tossed around in a USPS truck They handle everything like it is glass.

Not that it matters (especially now), but
A) they were bullets, not cartridges
B) they were not live. If they were they would have went off when I heat bonded the cores
C) They were not dimpled, the primer strike pushed back out from the force of swaging
D) No jolt would have caused them to fire until loaded into a new cartridge with a live primer

I suggest swinging by the swage forums.

Sorry overkill, it really had become a bit of a mess. I sent almost everything to 4 or 5 people. Have a tin of orange plastic discs and gas checks left that I think are for making shot shells, but not sure.

Some of the cast bullets were good examples of why commercial casters go hard with their alloy and lube.

Since I hadn’t seen the box at that point I had no idea what ulk77more was talking about, but mistaking swaged bullets for cartridges is amusing, especially since the box also included some primed brass.

If you want to start another I’m happy to donate some stuff, just know that it has a half-life of less than a year.

Oh, and sorry, I thought that Bazoo had started it.

No I didn’t start it but I started the thread and was running it. I thought it was dead or I’d not okayed breaking it down.

When I had it, not to name names of who done it, but some of that brass was garbage. It was vertigrised to the point of ruined. And some of the bullets, well let’s just say, I would have culled them. Guess that’s what you deal with.

That said, I’m game to put in to start a new one. I got some new moulds I could make various samples from.
