Looking for practice/plinker loads for 30 herrett useing 130 gr cast and powder coated.would like to be around 1000fps. what would be a good starting point? I have seen data for the 3030 with unique but none in 30 herrett. Any other powders i should look at such as trailboss?

Hi 41cal,
I have two .30 Herrett plinker loads I like to shoot in my TC G2. One is the Lee TL314-90-SWC (PC and sized to .310) with 2.7gr Bullseye, and the other is the Lee C310-120-RN (I reamed out the GC shank to make it PB)(PC and sized to .310) with 2.6-2.8gr Bullseye. Both are very neat loads to shoot, relatively quiet, and easily good to 100yds. I'm sorry I don't have a picture of a group with the 120gr (mine are about 115gr,) but you can see that the little 90gr SWC is easily good for minute of soda can. I've also had really good luck with the Lyman 311414 and the NOE 30XCB, but those bullets are heavier than what you're asking about.

ETA. I changed the picture of the Lee 120gr to PB

I don't have any real experience with the .30 Herrett, but I do have a bit with the 7.62x39 in a bolt gun. I remember Bob Milek stating in one of his articles that if the 7.62x39 case had been readily available he and Mr. Herrett would never have came up with the .30 and .357 Herrett rounds. With that said, I used to use 3.0 grains of Green Dot behind a PB 32-120 RF group buy mold for plinking with my mini mauser.
