I need a couple 8-40 screws , pan head would be prefered but I'm not picky . Anything 3/8 or longer would be fine

There are plenty of places to buy them online for sure .
But shipping charges don't make this a very economic purchase .
If a member has a few extra I'd much rather give them a few bucks

Ace Hardware and True Value Hardware stores generally carry gunsmith screws if there's one near you...…...

No place near me , including a very well stocked nut/bolt store carries anything in 8-40

I had an issue finding one recently too. I found a box of 3/4" socket head cap screws at Fastenal. Only needed one or two to use as a tap and had to buy a whole box. If you have a Grainger or McMaster Carr in town you could possibly get one there without shipping costs. If you think the socket head cap screw will work for your needs I can send you a couple.

As long as it's 8-40 I can make do :)
My only reason for a pan head was purely aesthetic .

There is a fastenal about 20 miles from me , but they are closed for covid season .
I'll send a pm , thank you very much .

Local farm supply store has a LARGE hardware (nuts, bolts, screws and fasteners)display. 8-40 pitch is one of the harder ones to find, but they had some. Taps and dies in that pitch are also hard to find.
