Just wondering which cast boolits everyone uses in the 32 Specials for hunting deer and black bear. I'm finally at the point where I'm ready to start using cast boolits in my waffletop Marlin 336RC 32 Special. It's a closer range rifle because it still wears the original iron sights, so 100 yards or less. It has the Ballard style rifling, not the micro-groove. I bought the rifle 6 years ago and I've been shooting factory ammo and jacketed handloads in it.

I don't cast my own, and I have no interest in casting my own. So what are some good, reliable and accurate cast boolits that I can buy for hunting with my 32 Special? I'm leaning more toward the 170gr +/- GC boolits and higher velocity loads above 2000 fps for hunting. I plan to develop an accurate hunting load and a slower target practice load.

Does Trail Boss work for slower target loads, maybe in the 1600 fps range?

SAECO 305, paper patched to .324". Cast from soft lead it makes a great hunting boolit for the 32WS.

Thanks! I've heard good reports about the SAECO in other calibers as well.

The rcbs 170 gr bullet shoots well in my elderly Winchester . Ranchdog also made a 170 gr for the 32 spl Marlin
