Got my mold from Accurate earlier this week
261075
Fired up the hot plate and melted down some Lyman #2(from Rotometals) and dove in
261076
Bit of a learning curve, but I got some usable boolits out of it. About 35 of the 31-135S(weighed in @ 130gr) and 24 of the 31-100D(97gr).
261077
Gonna have to fire it up and do some more. I'll get the hang of it yet.

Nicely done. Starting with Accurate mold is a prime way to start out.

You need to put an old saw blade on that hot plate.

Why? Something to do with heat transfer?

Your boolits look great!

Accurate molds are awesome. Tom is very good at customizing them and getting them to you quickly.

Looks good, now you have no worries what to do with your "free" time. Have decided what you are doing for lube? Powder coating seems to be the way things are going. I haven't used any "lube" in my lube sizer since I started PCing. Heck of a mold for your first one, well done!

An old saw blade helps provide a more even heat for the mold and won't create hotspots the way laying it on the open element will. I actually use a piece of copper plate to accomplish the same thing, but I had the copper already.

Good job!

I wish my first stab at casting had produced as nice product as your’s did!

Yep. It also spreads the weight around.

When I was first learning to cast, I read somewhere "The only way to learn to cast bullets, is to cast bullets...".

Nice Going .

I'm going to tell you something I wish someone had told me 50 years ago .
Save your money and get a Lee Magnum Melter that will hold 20 # of metal .
Just about the time everything gets up to casting temp....you run out of metal . You spend way too much time getting things melted and back up to proper heat...way too much time . Once you have everything hot with 20 # of alloy you can get a good rhythm going and cast a lot of boolits at one time ...when you get rolling , don't stop and look at them just cast away .
Also there is nothing wrong with ladle casting ... the best boolits are cast that way.
I tried a bottom pour pot and gave it away...made lots of 2nd rate boolits .
I use a Lyman Ladle with the side spout for pressure casting good boolits .

Welcome to the addiction ... Keep on

Old saw blades will work but I don't like them, especially if you use an aluminum mold. I use a round piece of aluminum 1/2 thick same diameter as the hot plate. Nice and gentle on the molds and once its hot it transfers heat very well.
