Just getting into casting, have been handloading for a few years.

Put together a 450 Bushmaster on a Savage platform with a 1:16 barrel for shooting heavy cast boolits. Would like to stick with 300/300+ flat nose Keith type boolits.

What would be a good mold to start with?

Thanks, Matt.

My 450 is a Ruger AR, so I haven't even tried a SWC bullet in it.
I have had some fairly good results with the MP 45 Ruger Only 320gn LFN style with plain base and powder coated.

261142 Here is a 290 gr GC from NOE molds that I cast for a 460 S&W in a T/C Encore. It is, as you can see, powder coated and I run it above 2k fps with good accuracy. I am not sure how it will work in your rifle but it is a round flat boolit that would hit like a ton of bricks. It feeds good from the magazine of my sons Ruger American Ranch rifle.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've just read some of the wider meplat boolits don't feed well, that Noe will be one to keep in mind for sure.

Yep, the 300 gr Lee GC doesn't feed all that reliably because of that big fat meplat, at least in the Ruger magazine, that is.
