today I realized that load development can go on forever!
I been shooting a .308 with a 1 in 10 twist savage 10FP.
I have been playing with Lee 200 and 170 grain boolits. I thought I just about had a load for H4895 behind the 170 boolit figured out when I ran out of powder.
I went to pick up my spare 308 I use to empty my power thrower and picked up a 32 special instead. Then I noticed how the 32 looks pretty close to the 308, and H4198 shoots so well in the 32, So why not try it?
I loaded up another 50 with 10 each in loads between 20 and 22 grains in .5 grain jumps. (this is the range for the 32).
All I can say it one of those loads shot a group 2X tighter then I have been getting with H4895, plus it's like 6 grains less in powder per shot, an extra 80 loads per can!
Now I got to load some up in .1 grain increments to see what shoots best, then back to trying the 200 grain boolit to see what is best.
At any rate, Dec 27th is the next cast boolit match and I am aiming to be ready for it. I got my bench rest vice yesterday, sure beats sand bags. Were on a roll now!
