If the one with the NATO marking is a 2009 lc headstamp, what is the other? What year did the format change?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200422/0f1981abef16169b98a76ba244f929ca.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200422/49bd9699234c1b3972ab4aae903e0640.jpg

The later markings are a marking scheme to tell LC which machinery loaded specific runs of 5.56 ammo.

Are you sure it is not LC 60?

LC wasn't loading any 5.56mm in 1960.

All the experimental ammo prior to M16 adoption was either FA, RA, WRA or WCC.

You read the numbers from left to right.

The NATO headstamp would be the 62 grain green tip. Without the NATO cross it would be the standard 55 grain lead core.

Not so. All M193 and M855 loaded to NATO specs will have the circle + stamp which indicates such. LC is loading a lot to 223 spec for commercial sale which will not have the NATO symbol because SAAMI 223 specs are not NATO specs. That's what we see in the OP's pic; a case which was loaded to NATO spec and a case that was loaded to commercial SAAMI spec.

My favorite brass brand. I have a load of 25 grains bench mark and a 60 grain vmax that shoots .3" groups at 200 yards pretty consistently out of my 14.5" POF P415. My avatar is a 100 yard group with it. Chronographs at 2850 feet per second. The brass hasn't been available in years and when it was last year I bought a box of a thousand virgin, unfired, uncrimped primer pocket cases and put them away. I should have bought four or five boxes of them because they were going for 10 times what they normally do after everybody runs out a few years back. I have a primer pocket swager but its not consistent.

Thank you for clearing that up! Appreciate the detailed explanation! I knew the meaning of the circle / cross and what the dots were for. I was just under the impression they had switched headstamp format. Didn't know there were 2 different "versions" for different specs.
