This is my new play toy, took 2.5 years to find one,and it is in very nice shape. Ive taken it all apart, and cleaned 50 years worth of hunting grime out of it, have so far put 9 coats of true-oil on the stock. Anyways, ive measured the barrell, and my findings follow.... It is a 4 groove barrell with a 15.5 inch twist. The groove measures .3195-.320 at the throat, and measures .3185-.3188 @ the muzzle. The grooves are about .0035 deep. The chamber has a .346 neck diameter, and about .080 free-bore. I guess im limited to the rcbs 170 mold, and you fellers speak pretty highly of it, so i have read. Whats the size of this boolit with WW alloy? Also, with this .320 throat what would you size the boolit to? When is this new ranch-dog mold going to become available for this caliber? What is your favorite powder for the .32 special? I dont have anything to load it with yet,, and am going to buy mold/sizer, plus some brass. Does the 30-30& .32 share the same neck thickness,on the brass? thanks, mark

I have three Marlin's in 32 Special !

One from the early 1900's another from the late 1930's and a third from 1951 !

I size all my bullets at .323" and they shoot fine !

I use the RCBS 32-170GC , Lyman 321297 and the soon to be released Ranch Dog 323-170GC . I might add , all my bullets are cast with WW's and aircooled so they aren't very hard !

I have a .323 sizer, and ill try that first, i guess. But i dont have a mold yet. Wife informed me that this was a christmas present, and it isnt to be shot until then! So, i have a month or so to gather the fixins.

I have a Marlin 336 from the early 1950s. I use a Lee 8mm bullet mold and run them through a 323 Lyman sizer. I also use load data for 30.30. and find it to be quite accurate.

I have an old Marlin 93 in .32 Spec. It has a .318 groove diameter. I have the RCBS 170 gr mold which I use WWs in and water drop. I size and seat GCs with the .321 sizer. I then must size the nose with a .312 sizer. It then chambers and shoots nicely with 28 grains of AA 2520.
