Took my first Gobbler ever last week in the bitter IL cold and windy conditions. To my surprise this Gobbler had eggs...Brother was "guiding" me and I knew when he came out with the hens a noticeable difference and looked for the beard. I will say I'm hooked and plan on going next year, have never heard the timber so alive. Was terrified when we found the eggs and had to google why. Turns out it's not that uncommon.

I saw two big toms fanning at a client's ranch, cant hunt there. I haven't seen or heard them on our place since the day BEFORE season. The grass is so tall I couldn't see one anyway.....

My wife goes out every evening to watch the turkeys go to roost in the large ponderosa pines in our yard.
Our great grad daughter is having a hard time convincing Grandma to let her shoot one.
BTW, Oregon spring turkey season regs say you can take one turkey with a beard as some hens will have them.

That's dangerous! What if I had still had coffee in my mouth when I enlarged that?
